How GPT Works and How It Improves Cycling Efficiency and Comfort

GPT is a unique cycling technology that enhances cycling efficiency, reduces the intensity of heart rate, and comfort by changing the way power is transmitted in a bicycle. It works as follows:

When a cyclist applies torque to the pedals, the GPT mechanism enables the freehub body (the part containing the pawls) to rotate in the same direction as the hub shell (the outer part of the wheel that rotates), enabling forward motion. When the cyclist is coasting or not pedalling, the GPT mechanism allows the freehub body and the hub shell to rotate independently, keeping the bike moving forward. When the GPT mechanism is under torsion to rotate in the opposite direction or when it is forced to stop, the pawls of the freehub body slide along the inner ratchet surface of the hub shell, preventing it from receiving a torsion load that counters its rotational motion in the forward direction. This sliding lock helps to prevent power loss and improves the efficiency of the drivetrain.
